Flood
Insurance
If you want to be prepared in case of flood, keep in
mind that most homeowner policies do not cover flood
damage.
If your community participates in the National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP), you can buy a flood insurance policy
through your agent.
Flood insurance may be written directly with the NFIP or
with Executive Insurance Group, if your community has adopted
flood-control measures and improved land-use regulations. Most
flood insurance is written through the NFIP, which is
administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA).
To see if your community has adopted the flood-control
recommendations by the Army Core of Engineers, detailed flood
zone maps are published at the FEMA map service
center
The Federal Insurance Administration (FIA) sets rates,
coverage limits and eligibility requirements while the program
standards are set by the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD).
Your automobiles/recreational
vehicles
If you carry comprehensive coverage on your
automobile/recreational vehicle, the direct, sudden damage
resulting of flood water would be covered under the terms of
most policies.
