Workers'
Compensation
Workers’ Compensation is the original no-fault coverage.
State law usually requires it if the employer has one or more
employees. Since coverage is statutory, Workers’ Compensation
coverage will vary from state to state. Coverage is usually
optional for sole proprietors, business partners, and casual
workers.
Workers' Compensation Coverage is occupational in nature,
meaning only job-related accidental injury and/or sickness.
Premiums are based on the hazard of the occupation, and the
rates are calculated per $100 of annual payroll. Hazardous
occupations can have extremely high rates. The Workers'
Compensation premium is paid entirely by the employer.
